CBY Sponsors Mock Trial

On Monday, April 16, 2015 Seventy five students from Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, Keating Middle School, Travis High School and the Expect Respect Program took part in the annual “Teen Dating Violence Mock Trial” hosted by the Honorable Orlinda Naranjo, 419th District Court Judge and sponsored in part by Cokinos, Bosien & Young. The evidence in this mock trial involved a teenage couple where the boyfriend’s behavior escalated from controlling his girlfriend to physical aggression and stalking. After the mock trial, Judge Orlinda Naranjo led a discussion about dating violence, addressing prevention and what to do if faced with the situation. Following the program, students enjoyed pizza and each received a Certificate of Appreciation for their participation in the legal system. James Ewbank of Cokinos, Bosien & Young has been an enthusiastic sponsor and supporter of this program since its inception in 2002 – reaching over 1,000 youths.
